Happy Anniversary to the Blessed Sacrament Fathers and Brothers!
The late Archbishop of Manila Rufina Cardinal Santos invited the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (Societas Sanctissimi Sacramenti SSS) to establish a foundation in Manila, Philippines. The first community of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers and Brothers (as Sacramentinos were then called) was established in the Parish of Sta. Cruz, Manila, on August 15, 1957.
In the Province of St Anne, American Blessed Sacrament Fathers and Brothers, laid the groundwork to propagate the SSS Eucharistic Charism founded by St. Peter Julian Eymard on May 13, 1856 in La Mure France.
The Congregation is a clerical religious Institute of Pontifical right, composed of priests, deacons, and brothers. Their ideal is to live the mystery of the Eucharist fully and to make known its meaning so that Christ’s reign may come and the glory of God be revealed to the world (ROL.#1).
At present the Blessed Sacrament Fathers and Brothers, Philippine Province, have 13 Communities serving, parishes, schools, and Eucharistic Centers, three foreign parishes: one in Uganda, Africa, two in Hawaii USA, and Provincial Collaboration Missions in the United States, Ireland, Rome and Australia.
The total number of Sacramentinos in the Philippine Province include: 52 Perpetually Professed ( 7 brothers and 45 priests), and 66 seminarians in various stages of formation.
