Elections in 2020 are going to be very different! Gone are the days when you go to ballot booth.
Now, whether or not you like it, the ballot comes to you. To find out how that is going to work, you can watch the video (at right) produced by the Office of Elections.
In order to ensure that as many people vote as possible, we wanted to provide you with a few reminders. First and foremost, (1)
make sure that you are registered to vote. You should have received a few mailings already from the Office of Elections including a signature capture card. (2)
Hopefully you received, and returned, that signature capture card. (We can talk about security and safety at another time, but know that we have our concerns.) If you did NOT receive anything in the mail, please
contact the Office of Elections directly.
Our website for
voting information (ivote) has been updated with key dates and resources so check it out if you want to ensure you are ready to receive the ballet packet on our around July 21.
What about the Hawaii Family Forum voter's guide? Hawaii Family Forum normally produces a voter's guide, but we will not be doing one until the General Election. Lack of funding and staffing have made it difficult to provide a guide that will be beneficial to you. As some of you have pointed out, many candidates don't even bother to return our survey. So, as we have done in the last two elections, we will be providing contact information FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION on the candidates so you can make contact with them directly. If all goes well, we WILL have a guide ready for the general election.
Your ballot package should begin to arrive on or around
July 21. Want to see what your primary ballot will look like?
